Connect your own domain name

You can show your company website at your own web address, such as a domain you already own. Each company can connect one custom domain. You do this in the dashboard under Site, then Domains.

Before you start

  • You own the domain and can sign in where you bought it (your domain provider).

  • Domains appears under Site only when the feature is switched on for your company.

Steps

  1. In the dashboard, open Site, then Domains.

  2. Add your domain.

  3. Relay Tow shows a CNAME record target. A CNAME record is a setting at your domain provider that points your domain to your Relay Tow website.

  4. Sign in to your domain provider and create a CNAME record pointing to the target shown in Relay Tow.

  5. Save the record and wait for it to verify.

What you will see

The domain shows as not active until the record is verified. Once verified, your website opens at your domain. The security certificate (the padlock in the browser) is set up automatically.

How long does it take?

DNS changes usually take 5 to 10 minutes, and can take up to 48 hours.

If it does not work

  • The domain still shows as not active: the record has not been verified yet. Check that the CNAME record matches the target shown in Relay Tow exactly, then wait. It can take up to 48 hours.

  • You want a second domain: each company can connect one custom domain.
