Roles and permissions explained
In Relay Tow, each person has a role. The role is a set of permissions that decides which menus they see and what they can do. Access is permission-based, so two people with different roles can see different sidebars.
The Owner
The Owner role is created when the company is created. The Owner can do everything, and is the only role that sees Companies in Settings.
Default roles
Every company starts with three default roles:
Admin: manages the company, including team, drivers, billing and integrations. Admins can connect and disconnect Square.
Dispatch: for the dispatch desk.
Driver: field users who work in the driver app.
Other roles you may see
Manager: an operational management role.
Member: a standard office user.
Viewer: read-only style access.
Examples of permissions
Create invoices, edit invoices, and edit invoice items.
Send payment links by text.
View and edit rates.
View all impounds, or only your own. Edit impounds.
View all calls.
View inspections, create inspections, and manage inspection templates.
Edit the website.
Edit drivers and manage driver roles.
Custom roles
People who are allowed to edit roles can create custom roles in the dashboard under Settings, then Roles. The Roles tab only appears for people with that permission.
Who can see your company's data
People only see data for the company they belong to. Within your company, their role decides what they can see.
Good to know
If a menu item is missing for someone, the usual cause is a missing permission, or the feature being switched off for your company.
Only Owners and Admins can connect or disconnect Square.
